Edible Flowers

Decorating with Edible Flowers

Decorating desserts with edible flowers gives great eye appeal and adds natural beauty. In my opinion, fresh flowers (and gumpaste designs) are much more attractive than globs of fattening decorations, laden with shortening or other commercial fats.

Check out this site for a great listing of what flowers are edible: http://whatscookingamerica.net/EdibleFlowers/EdibleFlowersMain.htm

The GardenCuizine photo above shows keylime pie made with chocolate cookie crust, topped with rosettes of freshly whipped cream and garnished with garden-fresh chocolate mint and pansies. Birthday pies are a healthier alternative to cakes. I made this favorite for my mother's 76th birthday, June 11, 2007.
